5 steps to effective SEO

Optimize:

Optimize, optimize…. whatever it may be… be it the introductory text on the home page, the logo image, the navigation area, textual or image…each and every element and aspect of a page is a potential candidate for optimization. One of the key areas that should be made part of the optimization practices is to optimize with the objective of creating a user friendly page. Even if a website caters to highly technical people, it does not have to be made tough to access! Time and ease of navigation is appreciated by all.
The question that needs to be asked is, is there a need for these elements? Are these elements adding value or taking away value?

Analyze:

Most of the optimization actions will not be as effective unless the actions are implemented after analyzing what is working for a website. If a website has just got launched, the basics of SEO best practices will need to be implemented. Once the traffic starts building up, analyzing and interpreting the traffic will provide valuable insights. It is important that the traffic analytics report is followed diligently in order to interpret and take decisions accordingly.

Prioritize:

Elements of a website, identified as bottle necks or pain points, need to be prioritized over general optimizing practices. What seems to be working fine can be left untouched. Staying current and following the practices that serve the business well needs to be focused upon first. For instance, for local business who are yet to verify their local listings, it is absolutely essential that they have a verified listing on Google, Yahoo, and BING local. With Google local, Google Plus, and Google maps working together to provide combined and verified results, it makes sense for every business owner to ensure that their listing are verified so that they do not lose out on potential customers. A strong presence in the social media circuit is another area that needs urgent focus and should be given priority to.

Improve and implement:

This is a continuous process and requires constant monitoring. Checking the analytics report, making changes, testing, and implementing the changes is a continuous process and ensures a website’s well-being.

Convert:

Conversion is a measure of how successful the optimization effort has been. The final outcome of all the optimization effort is to be able to convert the traffic into taking a desirable action.

The internet has been a great source of interest to me. I have been involved with website promotions and SEO since the late 90s. Those days SEO was not as well-known or wasn't really the top priority for most businesses. The whole SEO concept was still at its nascent stage. It is interesting how SEO has evolved over the past decade. My objective of setting up this website is to share my experiences and help your business attain a higher visibility on the internet.
